They can attract divers and tourists, and in some cases, local fishing industries have reported improved catches after reefs were introduced nearby.

      However, others have raised several concerns. There is uncertainty about whether artificial reefs can truly replace complex natural ecosystems. Some researchers also warn that poorly planned projects may damage existing habitats or introduce harmful materials. Furthermore, relying on artificial reefs might reduce efforts to address deeper causes of marine environmental decline.
